Our Story

Hi! We're the Allen's.
We had this crazy idea to sell our home, buy an RV and hit the road to live a life of adventure. We had enough of missing life with each other and having what felt as completely separate lives.
In 2020 life changed for everyone, and we were no exception.
Our youngest was born in January of 2020 and shortly after everything AND everyone shut down.

Sara had turned what was supposed to be her short term maternity leave from work, into a full time stay at home, homeschooling, mom life of two gig. All while running a business.
Running a salon from home, while navigating pandemic craziness and adjusting to being home 24/7 was an extreme adjustment from working 12 hour days as a hairstylist.
Nick began a pivatal moment in his Lineman career. Working for better companies, with more of a demand and larger service base...thus entailing longer working days and more storm calls, equaling much more time away from home.

After two years of this madness flew by, we had had enough.
We tried more weekend family vacations, camping in a travel trailer. (which we absolutely loved, it just felt like more work than play for only two nights of fun). We quickly became addicted to the camp life though.
We tried making our time together more intentional.
We tried making out weekends more epic, to makeup for the grind of the work week.We tried to do whatever we could to get more time. Time to be US. Time together without the hustle and bustle.
Two whole years of trying this and trying that.
Nothing seem to work for us.
Since our Oldest was born in 2016 we would randomly joke about "selling everything and traveling".
Saying screw the American dream that we could never seem to catch up with, no matter how hard we worked.

The timing was never right. We never seemed to be on the same page, about a new life, at the same time.

Opening a 15 chair Salon & Spa, Nick changing careers, adding a new baby to the family, a pandemic, and then relocating a business.
There always seemed to be SOMETHING.

Then came 2022.
The dreams felt different. They actually felt achievable.

A SKOOLIE!
That's where the dream took off. ohhhhhh the possibilities of a skoolie. The epic designs, the uniqueness, the convenience of driving.
But the time. The time it would have taken us to get it how we wanted, for the budget we wanted. It simply wasn't doable.

A CAMPGROUND!
Yes! lets create an epic space for like minded people to gather and spend time with their own families!!
The hunt began. Property after property.
Agent after agent on the hunt for us, and all in multiple different states.
NADA!
Nothing called to our entrepreneur hearts.

After months of hunting we realized that in order to make a new dream happen (whatever that looked like), we would have to go all in..
"sell it all"...and start a new.
The pandemic had hit us hard. We had poured everything we could mentally and physically into keeping our Salon & Spa a float and thriving. The American dream we had worked so, so, SO hard to achieve was the very thing drowning us.
Chasing MORE work,
MORE money,
MORE business,
We were sacraficing the most important value to us.
Family + Quality time.

The idea of selling it all began to feel liberating.
We immediately looked around at all the things that were surrounding us, all of the items that we had accumulated throughout the years,
ALL of the stuff. Suddenly we felt completely detached from it all.

Then the idea, to go ALL IN on this dream was born.
The housing market was INSANE and we could get wayyyyy more than we would ever, for our home. That was the final little push that we needed. (thank you house hunters of 2022)

So finally, we were on the same page at the same time.
LETS DO IT!

The hunt began for an RV.
A 5th wheel (mainly for the head room for Nick who is over 6ft tall).
Something already done, drive off the lot, move in ready.

We found it after viewing 100 different layout options and many, many walkthroughs on multiple RV lots. We finally found the one that we felt could be home. Unfortunately just like the housing market, RVs were INSANE. $$$$$$ The dream halted.

The point to this new chapter was FREEDOM, not more debt and more payments. We felt defeated.

So for a couple months we began selling off things little by little, filling up our "travel fund" piggy bank. We began planning a really cool trip instead. Searching for international travel destinations.
Then, out of the blue a random marketplace add came across our feed.
It was as if the universe had whispered, "wait...dont give up yet".

It was THE one.
The exact same model we had fallen in love with.
WHAT ARE THE ODDS!? Very slim I'll tell you.
This brand, this floorplan, is not a mainstream RV.
They weren't just lying around marketplace or used RV lots like some other brands you typically see.

Within 30 days, we had called our real estate agent, cleaned up the house, packed what we wanted to keep, listed our home, accepted an offer, signed the paperwork, bought the RV, and sold everything except sentimental items or what we were taking in the RV with us.
THAT FAST.
The dream was a reality.
The All.En Family was born.
Address Unknown. Nomads. Roadies. We were free.

So here we are, after more than half a year on the road, and we can fully agree that we may never go back.
(well maybe not never...just not anytime soon)

So, come along with us as we travel the world as total newbies.

Our goal is to experience culture, adventure, and 24/7 freedom.
No destination or adventure is off the table.
We want to see it all, share it all, and show YOU that you can to travel WITH your kids, even while they are young.

Happy Travels, Sincerely
The All.en Family
