Pick your own! an orange orchard with free camping!

Who doesn't love FRESH produce straight off the tree and then top that off with it being your morning view...for free!

If you are new to RV life, or by some chance haven't had the opportunity to check out Harvest Host , do it. You will not be disappointed, I promise. So what is Harvest Host?? To sum it up in a nutshell, it is a membership that you pay annually (that is very low compared to what you receive if I l might add) that immediately grants you access to thousands and thousands of FREE STAYS all over the US. These stays are made for camping, not hotels...just in case there was any confusion.

MUST STAY HARVEST HOST!

📍 Southern Grace Farm in Georgia, should be added to your favorites and here's why.

This has been one of our top stays with Harvest Host thus far. Lets start with the awesome play area for kids of all ages. It has a rustic handmade feel to it and IT HAS A PIRATE SHIP. Big bonus for our pirate loving wild ones. This play area cannot even be considered a playground it is SO huge, its more like a play-oasis. Our kiddos spent hours and hours playing, which is a win after a long travel day. After settling in, and a bit of playtime we headed inside to the farm store. To our surprise it is so much bigger than we expected, let's just say don't judge a book by its cover. The farm store sells everything from snacks, candles, jewelry, toys, produce, men & woman's wear, to homemade ice cream and slushies. Popular southern brands such as Old South Apparel, Simply Southern , John Deere, CAT and so much more. We grabbed a few of our favorites and made sure to try the homemade ice cream and slushies. 10/10 recommend it! While in the store, this is where you will purchase your bags to be able to pick your own produce. They give you the produce bags and also a pair of clippers to make the picking a bit easier. Whatever you do, buy more. We thought a few bags of these oranges would be plenty...boy were we wrong. THEY ARE SOOO DELICIOUS! Once you have tasted a fresh orange straight off of the tree, nothing else will compare. Just forwarding you. The rows of trees in the orchard are labeled with what types of oranges (and lemons) are available and then the rest is up to you! We had a blast picking!! The kids running up and down the rows, and just the raw freedom it felt to be harvesting your own food. If you have picked your own anything before, then you get it. If you haven't had the chance too, or honestly never put any thought into it...do your body & soul a favor and add it to your travel bucket list!

how to stay?

The only way to book a stay at Southern Grace Farm is through Harvest Host. There you will communicate with the owner and set up days and times that work best for you, followed by directions to the site. Please DO NOT just show up and expect to stay, that's not how this works folks. Remember to always respect the businesses working with Harvest Host, or anywhere for that manner...and leave no trace. Or as we tell our kids, leave it better than you found it.
